Will Power

 Will Power
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
1 John 5:14 New Living Translation
We are living in an age where awareness of one’s self is promoted heavily. There indeed is much to be said for being aware and in touch with one’s self. It is important that we recognize who we are, as well as our likes, dislikes, and tendencies. This helps alleviate us from becoming completely immersed and lost in others.
At the same time, we as believers must also seek to be aware of God’s will and His desire for us during each season of our lives. After all, God made each of us unique, but still in His image. Ephesians 2 tells us that we are His workmanship and that he created each of us to do good works. If we are going to actually perform those good works, then we must seek out His will for our lives.
Therein can lie some conflict.  The popular vernacular is that I’m going to do me. But how do I do me when God created me to do His work and carry out His will? What happens when doing me finds me wanting someone or something contrary to God’s will? What happens when we find ourselves to be in conflict with our creator? Do I have the power to yield my will to His, understanding that He knows what is best for me?  Can I muster up the strength to yield, knowing that there will be a blessing in conceding to the Lord?
It’s true, God does answer prayer.  Let’s remember as the Apostle John wrote, God hears us when we ask that which pleases Him. In other words, He obligates Himself to respond to and grant that which within the scope of His will for us.
Rewind – have we sought God’s will for our lives? Then have we accepted His will? Will we walk out His will, even when it’s not popular with others and means denying our own desires?  Do we as the creation rest in the assurance that God’s will is best and leads toward fulfillment of our purpose and our destiny?  I am reminded of the words of Kevin Lavar’s Your Destiny. ” This is not the time to get distracted.  This is not the time lose your focus. Your destiny is too important to give up for anything.”
As we seek to live abundant and fulfilled and prosperous lives, it is important that we make sure that we are walking in the steps that He has ordered for us.
Declaration- I will be a man/woman who walks in God’s Will for my life!
